Bricksburg and Emmet are jumping off the screen and into a theme park. THE LEGO MOVIE WORLD is coming to LEGOLAND Florida Resort.

The LEGO Movie was a huge hit and soon The LEGO Movie World will be a reality. LEGOLAND Florida Resort just announced a huge expansion for 2019. The new addition to the LEGO theme park will bring Bricksburg directly to LEGO fans. Who’s ready to explore the awesome LEGO world?

According to LEGOLAND representatives, this new theme park area will be a fully immersive experience. Rex Jackson, general manager of LEGOLAND Florida Resort said, “We know kids come from all over the world to meet the stars ofThe LEGO Movie and we can’t wait to see their faces light up as they interact within the imaginative world of Bricksburg.”

A visit to LEGOLAND takes imagination into the real world. Kids and adults use LEGOs as a way to express their creativity. Whether it is Star Wars battles or recreating favorite LEGO movies, this brick building toy is an expressive outlet for many people. Walking into LEGOLAND Florida is the visual representation of what many people see in their mind’s eye.

While this theme park is geared for younger audiences, LEGOLAND is looking for ways to incorporate the whole family. This year’s addition of the Great LEGO Race VR Coaster was a good example. Although the ride is approachable for a variety of ages, it is a huge step up from kid-centric rides. The use of VR technology shows that kids, and adults, want more than just a simple roller coaster. They want to be immersed in the LEGO world. Of course, the ride is thrilling, but it is more than that. It solidifies the fan connection in a tangible way.

This LEGOLAND expansion should be a huge hit with LEGO fans. The LEGO Movie, which is getting a sequel, appealed to both kids and adults. For kids, it showed them that LEGO imagination has no limits. For adults, it brought back a part of their childhood playtime. If LEGOLAND can capture those sentiments, fans will flock to the new theme park area.

According to LEGOLAND, the new area will feature “three new rides, character meet and greets and a giant themed playscape.” Since LEGOLAND Florida has limited expansion space, the theme park does have to replace an existing ride. The Quest for Chi will be transformed to reflect the new theme. This ride will close on May 29.

It is sad to see The Quest for Chi leave. Kids loved that ride because it was water based. It was always fun to try to get people wet as they rode in the boats. Granted the ride was a little slow, but the scenes throughout the queue were fun.

LEGOLAND has had huge success with other themed area expansions. The NINJAGO World area has been a favorite with both fans and theme park insiders. The area does a great job of incorporating numerous details from the popular LEGO series. Also, the NINJAGO ride was a huge critical success. The technology makes the ride engaging and has fans coming back to ride it again and again. Although the story is the same each time, riders are always looking to achieve a better high score.

Hopefully, one of the three new rides in the LEGO MOVIE area will incorporate VR technology or interactive features. Since LEGOLAND appeals to a younger audience, a high adrenaline roller coaster isn’t likely. Still, an age-appropriate, immersive experience is perfect for this particular theme park.
