The Met Gala’s theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination offered stunning looks from some of our favorite celebrities.

The annual Met Gala delivered some memorable looks, despite some finding the theme controversial. A-list celebrities turned up at the Metropolitan Museum of Art taking big risks by donning crosses, crowns, and wings. Thanks to their interpretation of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination, we were served the most sacred of ensembles.

Met Gala favorites like Rihanna did not disappoint, whereas a few famous names fell from fashion’s good graces (but only for a moment, we’re sure they can redeem themselves). The theme celebrated how high fashion and religion can come together to create masterpieces. Notably, we also appreciate how a few found a way to offer their own vision to the night, such as Lena Waithe donning a pride cape.

It’s safe to say there was something to be said about each look, and here are the best and not-so-great of them.
