Seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will bring up a lot of emotions. Understandably so but we’re talking about some of the biggest upsets.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has gotten a lot of flack. Why? I’m not entirely sure. The problem most fans have with it is the plot. After having seen both parts, the plot is not the problem. Really, there isn’t any problems.
The show does a great job for what it is: a character study of Harry Potter. Most fans don’t want to see Harry have flaws. We’re aware of them but pointing them out, as this show does, isn’t for everyone. For me, it was perfect.

It showed the side to Harry Potter that we all know exists but never bring up. He’s a hot-head. He says things she shouldn’t and then regrets them later. Which is, at its essence, the entire point of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
We all live in a world where we want our ‘heroes’ to not really have flaws. When they do, we feel for them but it is usually solved within a few moments. Cursed Child does a fantastic job of pointing out the flaws of Harry Potter and reminding us that this guilt he feels isn’t going to go away any time soon.

Then again, when has Harry ever been truly happy? He’s had moments when he was happy but it seems that every time he gets that happiness, it is taken away just as quickly. Which also happens in this show. Maybe it is because I’m a big nerd when it comes to understanding characters but, personally, I think that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child understands Harry in a way that the movies maybe didn’t.
If you can get tickets, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently on Broadway and in the West End. This is one show you definitely want to see because, for lack of a better term, it is magical.
