DANCING WITH THE STARS: ATHLETES – Get ready, sports fans, for the most competitive season of “Dancing with the Stars” ever as the show fires up the scoreboard and welcomes 10 athletes to sparkle up their uniforms and lace up their dancing shoes as they ready themselves for their first dance on the ballroom floor, on the season premiere of “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes,” MONDAY, APRIL 30 (8:00-10:01 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Craig Sjodin)

MIRAI NAGASU, ALAN BERSTEN

Rashad Jennings came back to judge this week on Dancing with the Stars: Athletes. Did his scores bring some couples up … or put them down instead?

As the most recent athlete to win Dancing with the Stars‘ normal competition, Rashad Jennings came in to judge everyone — sitting between Carrie Ann Inaba and Len Goodman, with Bruno Tonoli on the end as usual. That means there were four scores, with a 40 the ideal score on tonight’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Athletes.

Fortunately, a lot happened on this week of competition: song changes, princesses and even team dances.

Week 2 scores, in order of appearance:

  • Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess (paso doblé): 30 (7, 7, 8, 8)
  • Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe (cha cha): 26 (6, 7, 7, 6)
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay Arnold (salsa): 26 (7, 7, 6, 6) — eliminated
  • Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson (Viennese waltz): 33 (9, 8, 8, 8) — in jeopardy, called safe
  • Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber (quickstep): 33 (8, 9, 8, 8)
  • Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten (foxtrot): 37 (9, 10, 9, 9)
  • Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko (foxtrot): 33 (8, 9, 8, 8) — eliminated
  • Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson (quickstep): 37 (9, 9, 9, 10)

Team dance scores:

  • Team ’50s Tennis (Josh and Sharna, Kareem and Lindsay, Chris and Witney and Tonya and Sasha): 33 (8, 9, 8, 8)
  • Team ’70s Football (Mirai and Alan, Jennie and Keo, Arike and Gleb and Adam and Jenna): 37 (9, 10, 9, 9)

But those are just the scores. We’ve looked at the tape, judges’ comments and overall performance, and we have some opinions on who’s still going to contend for the trophy.
