2. Dory finds her parents
It took 13 years, but in 2016 Disney/Pixar fans finally got the sequel they’d been waiting for: Finding Dory. In this one, the title is much more existential than the original. Dory, suddenly struck by flashes of memory, is determined to find her family.
With the help of Marlin and Nemo, she travels to the Jewel of Morro Bay to find her parents. As it turns out, the Jewel of Morro Bay is the Marine Life Institute. After a whole movie’s worth of events, Dory eventually learns her parents are no longer there.
Eventually, she finds them just outside the facility, and audiences are given one of the most emotional reunions in any Disney movie ever. While her parents are just thrilled to see her, Dory is overwhelmed by her guilt.
Dory has spent her whole life apologizing for her subpar memory. When her mother tells her there’s no need to apologize, that’s a huge moment. It’s when Dory fully realizes that she is smarter and stronger than she knew. Jenny not only accepts but praises Dory’s unique memory.
No one is more understanding than a mom. Even in extraordinary circumstances, they’ll be there for you. This moment depicted it perfectly.
