One detail in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has us excited

With Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, attention to details is what has us excited!

Everyone read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when it came out. And if you didn’t, well then maybe don’t read too much ahead. The thing about the show is that it isn’t necessarily the script that makes it incredible, it is watching the magic unfold before you that keeps you locked in.

The best part? Harry and his scars. Not necessarily the one you’re thinking of though. If you recall, Harry Potter was also scarred when Delores Umbridge used a quill that used the victims own blood to make Harry write “I mustn’t tell lies” repeatedly.

The show, which was a choice by actor Jamie Parker, makes those scars prominent in a fascinating way. Not by calling attention to it but by just having them there. On Harry’s hand, you can see them if you’re in the front section.

But Jamie makes a choice with his hand that truly made the Harry Potter nerd in me squeal. Whenever something happens or Harry gets nervous, he shakes out his right hand. It is a nervous tick but one that shows that he truly was affected by Umbridge and her quill.

It is such a simple thing and one that took me quite some time to realize but still. Watching this boy grow into an adult man who still has problems and is trying to figure out his life makes us realize that even though we grew up, it doesn’t change the fact that we’re still learning. And if Harry Potter is still learning, then it is okay that we are still trying to figure it all out too.
