Episode V: Yoda lifts the X-Wing from the lake
Let’s be honest, basically any scene with Master Yoda is a fan favorite. His character is beloved in the Star Wars fandom, and his entire training sequence with Luke in The Empire Strikes Back is impressive and entertaining. But one of his most celebrated moments is when he demonstrates his mastery of the force by lifting an X-Wing fighter out of the lake in Dagobah.
This demonstration of his powers comes after Luke insists that he’s incapable of using the force to such a great extent. Luke tells him that moving an X-Wing is far more difficult than moving stones around, and he half-hardheartedly tells his trainer that he’ll keep trying. Before spectacularly lifting the starfighter himself, Yoda drops some wisdom that has since become famous: “Do or do not. There is no try.”
Episode V: “Never tell me the odds.”
While Luke is training with Yoda in Dagobah, his friends manage to get themselves into quite a few tight spots. Vader and his followers chase Han and Leia across the galaxy, knowing that they’ll make the perfect bait for Luke. Vader guesses that Luke will attempt to save his friends, and this assumption proves accurate in the end.
Vader, however, doesn’t anticipate how challenging it will be to capture the group with Han piloting them. During one scene, multiple star destroyers pursue Han and the others. Their attempts to go to lightspeed to escape fail, and viewers get a glimpse of the legendary pilot who can wiggle his way out of anything. He decides to go into an asteroid field to lose Vader’s men. C-3PO warns him that the chances of survival are unlikely, to which Han responds: “Never tell me the odds.” It’s a memorable line and moment.
