Like being absolutely terrified while you’re watching television? Then you’ll love this week’s episode of Legion.

Every week, Legion either delights us or confuses us. While this season isn’t as grabbing as the first, there have been moments when the story was so engrossing that you couldn’t look away. This was one of those weeks.

When Lenny Busker gets a physical form, it is clear that nothing good can come out of the Shadow King. David Haller and Division 3 are more than understandably suspicious of this sudden change, and the fact that Jon Hamm started the episode by saying “Apparently on” isn’t helping.

The show is beginning to recognize the insanity that it has created and is giving the audience something to comment on while still telling the story we’re tuning in for. It is disorienting and terrifying, which makes it a great episode of Legion.

An extremely Lenny-centric episode, it focuses on three specific conversations that she has with members of Division 3. They start off innocently enough, Lenny talking about her “tragic” backstory … but the delivery of it is enough to make us skeptical about how much of it is true.

When Ptonomy starts to try and access her memories, he’s forced out and his abilities begin to stop working. Unlike Syd, she’s not willing to let the members of Division 3 access her mind and help understand her.

The episode also has quite the Oliver Bird storyline as he begins to fully submit himself to the Shadow King, determined that he will be the one who defeats Farouk when the time comes. While we still don’t know the outcome of letting Farouk into his human form, at least there seems to be some semblance of an idea for this season yet.
