Marvel released a new Ant-Man and the Wasp trailer after promising that it would reveal where they were during Infinity War. But how much did it really reveal?
If you were looking to get a ton of new answers about Ant-Man and the Wasp’s whereabouts during Infinity War, the new trailer doesn’t do too much to answer that question.
The trailer, released Tuesday, basically just gives us more information on which bad guy Hank Pym, Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne are trying to stop next. This time, it’s Ghost, who’s got access to Pym’s technology and wants to “take over the world or whatever.” They also revisit talks about the quantum realm, which will most likely play a major role in this next movie (and maybe even Infinity War?).
But besides those details, on the surface, there’s seemingly little to no callbacks that might help one think that the new Ant-Man and Infinity War even exist in the same cinematic universe at all.
Of course, it makes more sense to leave those details vague, so as not to give away any plot twists that occurred in Infinity War. But even so, there’s no shot of Lang or anyone lamenting that they’re not currently with the Avengers or being suspicious that something is amiss.
It’s very likely, though, that somewhere in the film, a scene like that will occur. Even teasers released the day before this trailer pushed us to ask where Ant-Man was during Infinity War.
So, based off of the trailer, it has to be fair to assume that Ant-Man and the Wasp takes place before Infinity War. There’s no way you can just ignore the elephant, or shall we say the Thanos in the room, when he begins his destruction.
