Did a Game of Thrones season 8 set just provide something in the way of a spoiler for fans, provided these aren’t just meant to trick us all?
Warning: In case you missed the headline, Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers are here, and we will be talking about them in detail.
Game of Thrones season 8 seems to have made a comeback to Belfast (or maybe it never really left, but regardless, things have really picked up there in the past few days). Granted, we don’t have a really good look at what’s happening currently.
As GoTlike Locations showed on Twitter, production has finally actually cut off fans’ views of the King’s Landing set.
However, that hasn’t stopped fans from getting some last photos recently, which show a few things of interest, namely Lannister banners at the gates of King’s Landing:
First and foremost, there is no guarantee that this set won’t see multiple uses (you know, before production apparently burns it down). That seems like an important distinction to make. However, if this is all for the battle scenes set there, then things become a touch more interesting. The burnt corpses certainly suggest that that’s going to be the only use for the set.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t really clarify who’s attacking the city. Since King’s Landing appears to still be a Lannister stronghold, then either Daenerys or the Night King could attack. For Daenerys, it might be an attempt to take the city before the Night King gets to it and use it for her own defenses. However, the use of dragon fire would make it hard to re-fortify for any attack by the Night King.
In short, it makes it slightly more likely that it’s the Night King who attacks King’s Landing, not Daenerys, but there’s no guarantee on that just yet. After all, those Lannister banners hanging on the walls look awfully new …
