Dancing with the Stars: Athletes brought it in its season premiere, but who’s really got a shot at the trophy? It’s time for some power rankings.

Normally, Dancing with the Stars starts a new season with a huge number. Not so for the inaugural season of Dancing with the Stars: Athletes. Instead, a Tom Bergeron voiceover introduced our competitors before the pros came in to a marching band version of “We Will Rock You.” Carrie Ann Inaba, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli even came out in referees’ uniforms.

Now that’s how you kick off a new take on a show that’s been around for a long, long time.

If you’re just here for a standard leaderboard and results, that’ll be here on the first page. But if you’re looking for a take on who impressed and who flopped with the audience and judges … then scroll down and click through for our Dancing with the Stars power rankings.

Hey, it’s only appropriate for an athletic season, right?

Scoreboard in order of appearance:

  • Chris Mazdzer and Witney Carson (salsa): 21 (7, 7, 7)
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lindsay Arnold (cha cha): 17 (6, 5, 6)
  • Jennie Finch Daigle and Keo Motsepe (foxtrot): 21 (7, 7, 7)
  • Jamie Anderson and Artem Chigvintsev (Viennese waltz): 19 (6, 7, 6)
  • Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten (salsa): 23 (7, 8, 8)
  • Arike Ogunbowale and Gleb Savchenko (salsa): 20 (7, 6, 7)
  • Adam Rippon and Jenna Johnson (cha cha): 24 (8, 8, 8)
  • Johnny Damon and Emma Slater (foxtrot): 18 (6, 6, 6)
  • Tonya Harding and Sasha Farber (foxtrot): 23 (8, 8, 7)
  • Josh Norman and Sharna Burgess (cha cha): 24 (8, 8, 8)

Ultimately, Johnny Damon and Jamie Anderson both went home, leaving everyone else to dance another week — with both a team dance and the usual routine to learn. So, who’s looking good, and who needs work? Here’s our take on it.
