Pottermore looks at the pros and cons of joining the Slug Club

The Slug Club was an exclusive club that many wanted to get into. But it wasn’t all good. There were some pros and cons about joining.

When Harry was invited by Professor Slug Horn to join his exclusive club, the Slug Club, in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” he wasn’t overly keen on the idea. But while Harry was hesitant many at Hogwarts loved the idea of being in the club.

Cormac McLaggen loved the idea of being part of the club. He happily bragged to anybody that would listen and would try as much as he could to make it sound really impressive in front of Hermione.

There were some advantages of being in the club. That was fairly obvious. The list of high profile witches and wizards who had been part of the club was made clear when we first met Professor Slughorn.

He happily told Harry about how the owner of Honeydukes was a member, the Editor of the Daily Prophet was the Captain of the Holyhead Harpies as well. A long list filled with successful, powerful Witches and Wizards.

There were some members that Slughorn wished hadn’t been members as well. Tom Riddle is the obvious choice.

So while there are some pros to the being part of the club, there is obviously bad as well. However, not everything is fairly clear. Thankfully Pottermore has looked at the pros and cons of joining the club and while some points are obvious, not all of them are.
