Snapchat has added a new magical lens that makes you look like you belong in the same class as Harry Potter!

It’s all part of the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery celebrations. In celebration of the mobile game by Jam City, the developers created the new Harry Potter-themed Snapchat lens allowing you to be pictured inside the famous school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

It is one of the shoppable lenses on Snapchat but like all other shoppable lenses, it turns into a little mini-game for you to enjoy. In this case, as it would be expected with any Harry Potter game, you have to practice your spell work. This involves you drawing the correct spell pattern on your screen, just like the correct wand movement, in order to cast the spell.

Was there any point?

A curious question to ask is if this was really worth the trouble or not. While Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery has been holding the top spot on the downloadable charts it doesn’t necessarily mean that Harry Potter fans will go buying this as well.

In fact, it might have the opposite effect with all the backlash the mobile game has already received over players having to fork out cash so early in the game. Asking them to then purchase a Snapchat feature is possibly going too far.

Then again, it may pay off and fans will be striking their very best pose. These types of lenses on Snapchat are becoming increasing more popular so it’s hard to tell how Harry Potter fans will react.
