Stranger Things 3’s production announcement video might have some clues

Is the video showing the first table read for Stranger Things 3 just a cute way to announce the start of production, or is there something more?

The only words spoken in Stranger Things‘ season 3 production announcement video are “Get out of here, nerds!” Oh, how we wish we could get out of here, Priah Ferguson, but we can’t. We’re just too wrapped up in the happenings around Hawkins. It’s a little strange, we know, but we just enjoy the show so much. Enough to even make puns about it!

Anyway, the video itself is pretty simple. It shows the setup for the first table read, for the first episode of season 3, with just brief glimpses at favorite actors. However, seemingly intentionally, we don’t really see most people’s faces.

Is this just a stylistic choice, like the black and white, or is it a hint of what we might see in season 3?

Watch the video below and decide for yourselves:

Never doubt this show’s propensity to get weird or turn things upside down. On the one hand, it’s easy to see why we don’t see a lot of people’s full faces. We recognize them just from the backs of their heads at this point, having binged the first two seasons.

However, could it be that the antagonist of season 3 has something to do with faces or seeing? Perhaps it can imitate others. Not only would it be a cool turn in the story, it could also give some actors the chance to really stretch their talents by playing evil versions of themselves. Can you just imagine an anti-Eleven/Jane?

That’s absolutely a point of conspiracy-theory-level speculation, but this show is pretty much literally about conspiracy theories. We think we’re well within our rights here.
