On the eve of Avengers: Infinity War, the question on our mind is: would Harry Potter be this big now?
It is undeniable that Avengers: Infinity War is going to break records. Already it is slotted to beat out classic films for the highest grossing film of all time. So as we’re looking at the ten-year span of the franchise, the question on my mind is whether or not Harry Potter could go toe to toe with it.
And not Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I’m referring to the Harry Potter we grew up with. Harry and his friends used to consume our days and nights, constantly wanting to know more about them. Now? That same thing is happening with the Avengers but maybe on just a slightly larger scale.

Times have changed since we last saw Harry Potter take on Voldemort and we’re a society that fears spoilers. So if Harry Potter was being released now, would it still have the ability to take on the Marvel franchise in the box office?
Personally, I think it would be a tight battle but the Avengers might actually win out. Then, on the other hand, there is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child happening and that’s sold out for like the next ten years. So really, it could be anyone’s game.

What’s sad is that we didn’t really have much overlap between the two. We’ve seen the fear that the MCU put into the stake of Star Wars (even though they’re owned by the same company) so who really knows what would have happened if these two were going head to head.
