Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: An accumulation of data
While nothing big has come out of this classic filming location for Game of Thrones season 8 just yet, that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to look at.
Warning: Game of Thrones season 8 production may have inadvertently confirmed that we’ll see a classic area. In other words, we’ve got spoilers.
Game of Thrones season 8 is our last chance to see anything in Westeros. . . . as we know it, that is, considering all those spinoffs that are still lurking over at HBO. With that in mind, is it any wonder that we seem to be getting a whirlwind tour of all of our favorite locations? At this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if Dragonstone showed up again.
After all, photos and reports from recent days show that Ballintoy is back again.
We’ll let Irish Thrones take it away in terms of what this locale has been in the past:
#GameOfThrones returns to filming at Ballintoy! Previously used as Lordsport on the Iron Islands. This time its a little different, the Harbour is being used over a longer filming period and returns to filming again next week. Intense. Heightened security also.

Of course, “heightened security” could just be a general policy for the show in general during season 8 production. After all, it is the final season. Then again, Irish Thrones also points out that things are “intense” this time around.
The account also has some speculation for us to start with based on some recent photos:

Now, dragons invading the Iron Islands isn’t really out of the realm of possibility. After all, they are part of Westeros. However, it seems that Irish Thrones may have missed something else here with the detail about the possibility of filming at night. In season 7, Theon vows he’ll go rescue his sister. . . . and where is she likely to be?
You guessed it: the Iron Islands, Euron Greyjoy’s base of operations right now.
Oakleaf Photography has backed up the information about how hard it is to get much of anything from what’s going on there, but does have some better perspectives:

Looks like some night filming to me, particularly with the mention of cast being there. Finally, this last photo comes courtesy of A Red Priestess, who retweeted this:
While the photo isn’t close enough to really make out who’s there, it does seem like some people could be in costume.
