The Dark Knight – PR stunts caused major havoc

The Dark Knight is another superhero movie that is worthy of being included on our list. After a haunting performance from the late Heath Ledger as The Joker, this film will likely remain one of the most successful Batman movies ever.

A new district attorney named Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) has successfully rounded up some of the most dangerous criminals that plague Gotham City, but when a new criminal mastermind known as The Joker comes to town, he brings a whole new wave of chaos. Batman (Christian Bale) has to step in to take down the sadistic madman, but it soon gets personal.

The Dark Knight also got into some trouble when it came to the film’s promotional stunts. A website related to the film sent out several cakes that were supposed to be from The Joker. They had a cell phone inside which made the cake vibrate, and the wires sticking out of it made it look like a real bomb.

A news station that received one of the cakes thought it was a terrorist attack, and the entire building had to be evacuated. Yikes.

Sometimes, action movies cause a lot of drama in the cities that they film in, but all publicity is good publicity, right? During the shoot for The Dark Knight, a chase scene was being filmed on Lake Street in Chicago. The Chicago Police Department reportedly received several calls from citizens who thought there was a real police chase going down in their city. Of course, it was just part of the movie magic.
