Action movies are all about explosions, deaths, and high-speed car chases. But when you get a look behind the scenes, they’re not so wild after all.

Action movies are usually a surefire way to burn up the box office, and they have been for decades. Throw together some explosions, an angry man behind the wheel (or a funny man, for some comic relief), and some kind of high-stress situation, and you have yourself a hit.

The action genre has produced some legendary franchises over the years that could not be matched. Films like Die Hard, Mad Max, Jurassic Park, The Bourne Identity and so many more paved the way for countless sequels, prequels, and copycats over the years. And of course, there’s Bond, James Bond, who has managed to stay at the top of the genre ever since the 1960s.

While we all love a good heart-pumping, butt-kicking fight scene, many of your favorite action movies have some pretty fun Easter eggs hidden away for fans to find, while others were almost vastly different than the movies we all know and love today.
