Alden Ehrenreich is set to play Han Solo in multiple films. Over here, we’re just waiting to see Donald Glover as Lando and not much else.
It is now public knowledge that Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t going to be a one-off. Meaning that Alden Ehrenreich is signed on for more than one movie. Why? Who knows.
Here is the thing about Han Solo that this fan will make clear. He works because he’s Harrison Ford. Take Harrison Ford out of the equation and he’s just a typical dude who thinks he’s better than everyone else and who would rather live alone with his dog than help anyone else.
From the trailers, it seems that the side of Han no one really likes is what is shining through. Because without the charm and smile that Harrison Ford brought to the role, he’s just a guy that easily offends or makes you groan in annoyance.
With more Ehrenreich, we can be sure that we’re going to have to sit through more of his awkward attempts at being charismatic. Maybe I’m being harsh since we haven’t seen the movie yet, but it really shouldn’t be the Lando show in a movie called Solo. If you remember Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, they were pretty toe to toe.
So does anyone really want more of Alden as Han? We’ll have to wait and see how he actually does in Solo. I for one know that I’m not ready for this half-hearted Han Solo. We love a smuggler, a cheat, and a scoundrel. Not whatever it is that Alden is bringing to the character.
