3 plotlines we’d only accept if Avengers 4 is 3 hours long

The Avengers 4 is still a work in progress, but early word has it that it will be longer than Infinity War, possibly even 3 hours long.

It’d be an understatement to say the Marvel Cinematic Universe is really hitting its stride right now, but there comes a point where we just have to draw a line at some things.

Right now, I’m specifically drawing the line at the next Avengers movie’s runtime. Although it’s very far from being confirmed, the idea that Avengers 4 could be 3 hours long was tossed around in a Collider interview with directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

The brothers stressed that Avengers 4 is barely complete and it’s unfair to slap a runtime on it just yet, so I’m just here to set things straight early.

Any die-hard Marvel fan would be willing to sit through 2 hours of seeing their favorite heroes in action, but there are only a few certain conditions where we’d accept a movie that could be 3 hours long.

1. We get to see more Wakanda

We’ll wait patiently for Black Panther 2 and even Infinity War, where Wakanda will be thoroughly featured. But you can never have enough of T’Challa, Shuri and the rest of the crew. Back when rumors spread that the rough cut of Black Panther was 4 hours long, fans were more than thrilled to sit through the entire unedited version. So just let the directors know, there’s no harm in adding a whole lot more of Shuri, or even bringing Nakia into the story. That would be much appreciated.

2. They really draw out scenes with Captain America

Nobody knows exactly what’ll happen to Captain America in Infinity War, but there’s the slight possibility that he could crop up in Avengers 4. If that does happen, let’s just spend one last time getting to see the Cap in all his glory. Let’s see him and Bucky reminisce about the good old days. Let’s have him and Tony go out for one more bite of shwarma. I’ll even watch a movie about Steve Rogers picking up his dry cleaning. Just … don’t let him go!

3. The Avengers have another Age of Ultron-style party

Now, this would be the pinnacle of cinematic history. Everyone loved the party scene at Stark Tower in Age of Ultron. Let’s just have another scene like that — except it’s the whole movie! We’ve got more Avengers to join the party like Doctor Strange, who might have some killer party tricks. And Peter Parker can come, so long as he’s back home before his bedtime. Who needs real friends when you can party it up with the Avengers for 3 hours? You can count me in for that.

In all seriousness, we’re already primed to sit through longer MCU movies anyway. I’m sure if an MCU movie pushed 3 hours, I’d still want to see more.

While Avengers: Infinity War is out on April 27, the untitled Avengers 4 movie is slated to be released May 3, 2019.
