Harry Potter makes the list of 100 best novels in America

When you think about amazing novels, is Harry Potter on your list? It certainly makes the list of 100 best novels in the country and it’s certainly deserved.

There have been so many amazing books over the years. Whether you’re a fan of “The Color Purple,” enjoy the YA novel “The Hunger Games,” or even enjoy the tales of the Boy Who Lived, you have one thing particular in common. Your books have made the 100 best novels in America.

The “Harry Potter” series is just one of the novels mentioned on the list. In fact, it’s all the novels in the franchise that have made it, so technically, the list is slightly longer than 100 and the Boy Wizard gets seven spots. This is among some iconic novels, including “A Game of Thrones,” “Nineteen Eighty-Four,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”

Who decided on the list?

The 100 best-loved novels have all been chosen through a YouGov survey. That means people like you and me have had the chance to vote for our favorite novels.

It shouldn’t be too surprising “Harry Potter” has made it. This isn’t just a fantasy series about a boy who tackles on the most powerful wizard known to the magical community. It’s a story about friendship and love, about trusting others and building a team, about doing what’s right and sacrificing your own future for the sake of the world. There are many lessons children and adults have learned, as they followed Harry Potter through the mind-blowing seven-book series.

Twenty years on from the first novel being released in the U.S., it’s still an important story to many. Children are still buying the books, learning about the wizarding world from their parents. There are Harry Potter-themed events around the world, bringing the stories to life.

Where is it on the list of 100 best novels in America?

Right now, the full list isn’t in order. That’s all to come with PBS’ The Great American Read, a new series that looks into the novels. Premiering on May 22, the series will feature authors, celebrities, and more sharing why particular novels mean so much to them. It’s a chance to learn about the influences and there are plenty when it comes to “Harry Potter.”

Viewers will get the chance to vote for their favorite novels. You’ll be able to push “Harry Potter” to the top spot if you believe it goes there, with the final results being released in October 2018.
