The Lost for Words Bookshop – Stephanie Butland

What’s the perfect read for a book lover? A book about books, of course. Every few years, a novel pops up that basically serves as a love letter to the literary community. Stephanie Butland’s The Lost for Words Bookshop is the 2018 version of that novel.

Our main character, Loveday Cardew, “prefers books to people.” Sound familiar? Loveday also has quotes from her favorite books inked all over her skin, and she even owns her own bookstore. Her obsession with all that is fictional defines her life, but it also serves as a way to hide her secrets — secrets she’ll never share with anyone.

Cue the arrival of “a poet, a lover, and three suspicious deliveries.” When all of these things show up at her bookshop, Loveday’s life takes a turn. It becomes clear that someone, somehow, has uncovered everything she has worked so hard to hide. And now that her dirty laundry is out in the open, she’ll actually have to face it.

Previously published under a different company and title, the revamped volume of The Lost for Words Bookshop releases on June 19. It sounds like the perfect mixture of light and heartwarming, and summer’s the season for such things.
