20 underrated reality show gems you should be watching

Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew
The premise: The grosser, more embarrassing and horrifying version of Intervention. Dr. Drew Pinsky, doctor to the D-List stars, runs a rehab in which washed up celebrities come to him to help them kick their habits. He facilitates group and one-on-one therapy sessions and sometimes brings in their loved ones as part of the therapeutic process.
Why you’ll love it: It’s hard to say that everyone will, in fact, love this show. If you suffer from extreme bouts of second-hand embarrassment, this show is not for you. It can get pretty dark, and the thirst to reclaim any semblance of fame is tough to watch. The whole show reeks of desperation, and some of the celebrities have since lost their battle with addiction.
However, in it’s lighter “celebrities, they’re just like us” moments it’s fun and can be downright silly. They let their guard down and it’s so interesting to see the result of celebrity culture and the toll it takes on its participants. It will definitely make you think twice about picking up that US Weekly in the grocery aisle. Or maybe not.
How to watch: You can catch the first five seasons on VH1’s website, but you can watch the sixth and final season on Amazon.
