Alan Rickman’s library of scripts and letters has been unearthed, showing how much he thought of those who sent even the shortest of notes.

It’s still not easy without Alan Rickman around, but the late actor was more than just amazing onscreen. He was just a sweet and beautiful human being. A recent reveal of his personal scripts and letters shows that he kept even the shortest of notes from fans. And one of those fans was Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe.

Many actors would likely throw out the shortest of notes to avoid clutter, but the decision to keep a short note from a young fan shows just how much he cherished the words. It’s unclear how old Radcliffe was when he sent the note on the back of a postcard and it doesn’t give away exactly which play Radcliffe was praising Rickman for, but that’s not the important part. The short “Merry Xmas” note was stored away for safe keeping. Rickman was certainly not Severus Snape!

The scripts, letters, and photos have all been obtained by Neil Pearson Rare Books. Among the letters are those from the likes of Nicole Kidman and David Hare, making it clear that Alan Rickman cherished all correspondence and possibly looked back over the memories. Surprisingly, Kidman’s note shared how she was too shy to come backstage.
