Perhaps one of the most versatile actresses currently working, Gina Rodriguez brings an insurmountable amount of depth to every role she jumps into. It’s because of this that Jane the Virgin became a Golden-Globe winning show, despite airing on The CW.

Though Rodriguez has plenty of projects in the works, including two versions of a Carmen Sandiego reboot, and another Netflix romantic comedy, she hasn’t become a household name or starred in a big blockbuster yet.

She starred in Deepwater Horizon and Annihilation, however, neither film put her talents to use as much as they should have. Moreover, those were both ensemble films, and she deserves to be the lead in a blockbuster instead.

Previously, she expressed interest in joining the Marvel franchise as America Chavez, which seems like the perfect role for her. As the studio continues to branch out and Black Panther proves that people want more diversity, now’s a perfect time. In fact, Marvel should stop teasing fans about a Black Widow movie that already missed its window, and just give that slot to Gina Rodriguez and America Chavez.
