Ocean’s 8: New trailer proves that you don’t need 11 men to get the job done

Ocean’s 8 poses a wonderful question: Why have 11 men when 8 women can do it?  With a new trailer, we’re excited to see where this story takes us.

The minute they announced that Ocean’s 8 was a movie that was happening, fans everywhere rejoiced. Or well, women rejoiced and men revisited the same arguments they had for the all-female Ghostbusters.

Every time there is an “all female” reboot of a movie franchise that men seem to love, angry fans start commenting everywhere on the Internet. Not because they don’t want the classic touched. Instead, the argument centers around whether or not the movie is “necessary.” With Ocean’s 8, it is clearly necessary because 8 women can do what it took 11 and then 12 (and then 13) men to achieve.

For those unfamiliar with the franchise, it is an insanely nuanced heist movie where the target was Andy Garcia and is now Anne Hathaway.

What’s incredible about the argument of “why do we need a new one” is that the film Ocean’s 11 with George Clooney was, in fact, a remake. So now this third time around, they finally wised up. The trailer gives us a glimpse into the movie and honestly, there is nothing more perfect than this cast.

Stacked with Cate Blanchett, Mindy Kaling, Rihanna and, of course, Sandra Bullock, we’re in for quite the treat with Ocean’s 8.

So do we need to remake this movie? Yes, because this is going to right what the other films got wrong by simply making it about women. And I’m not just saying that as a woman. There is clearly a reason only 8 women were needed … and that’s because we’re pretty good at getting things done efficiently.
