Weird Science – Links to other John Hughes movies

We have one more John Hughes movie for you, and while there may be no Molly Ringwald, there is Anthony Michael Hall.

Weird Science is about two nerdy teenagers, Gary (Hall) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith), who try their best to be accepted by their peers but fail. They finally get so desperate that they attempt to create their dream woman on their computer, and it actually works. Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) ends up being a living, breathing woman standing right there in front of them. But the gorgeous bombshell ends up being more than they bargained for.

When you get two real teenage boys in a movie with a real supermodel stunner like Kelly LeBrock, there was bound to be some awkward on-set interactions, and LeBrock shared one of her stories at a Comic-Con event.

LeBrock said that during her kissing scene with 14-year-old Mitchell-Smith, he got a bit ahead of himself and slipped her the tongue. That’s a brave move for a boy that age!

LeBrock reportedly told the young actor afterward, “If you ever do that again, I’m going to kick your ass!”

In typical John Hughes fashion, Weird Science also has some connections to the other films in his repertoire. In one scene, Hall makes a reference to his girlfriend who lives in Canada. In The Breakfast Club, Brian (also played by Hall) also mentions his supposed girlfriend who’s from Canada. Both films also feature John Kapelos, who plays Dino in Weird Science and the janitor in The Breakfast Club.
