Star Wars Smuggler’s Bounty’s Endor box is better late than never

It might not have arrived until early April, but the Smuggler’s Bounty March box does have some particularly cute items in it for Star Wars fans.

The Smuggler’s Bounty subscription box has seen some recent changes. Perhaps those changes resulted in the March box, Endor, not arriving until early April. (Granted, I also didn’t order the box until the very last day orders were open, but the point remains.)

It’s not the most world-beating box ever — that probably still goes to last year’s 40th anniversary of A New Hope box, and even that lacked a certain character — but it’ll tide fans over until May’s box for Solo: A Star Wars Story.

First up, here’s a look at all of the box’s contents:

Depending on how you feel about Funko’s non-Pop! items in boxes, there’s a chance you might be underwhelmed. However, this reviewer actually likes the Ewoks.

Obviously, the big draw here is the Pop!, a Scout Trooper riding a speeder bike. I maintain that one of the Ewoks trying to ride the bike would have been funnier and a better collectible, but I’ll accept this. For collectors who have the Leia with speeder bike Pop! (or the Luke chase variant), this will pair especially nicely.

Weirdly, if you put the Star Wars logo to the front, the trooper will be facing away. If you’re planning to display this one by itself, it would make more sense to display it like this. However, if you’re trying to recreate the Return of the Jedi chase scene, then it makes a little more sense.

There are the painfully cute Funko-stylized Ewoks I was looking for. The backpack hanger itself, which is delightfully fuzzy, comes in the tin, which has a pattern of the Ewok village all around it. I almost don’t want to put this on my backpack to see it get ruined by the elements. It’s just too cute.

Finally, the wearables in the box are a pair of socks showing the forest moon at night, with a fully-operational shield generator protecting the partially-built Death Star above, and a patch featuring an Ewok. Like the socks from The Last Jedi box in December, the socks here are a very nice mid-weight, making them perfect for spring whenever it decides to show up.

There’s really not much to say about the patch itself; it’s cute and functional. It’s just that yours truly isn’t much into patches, and they’re really not the selling point of the box anyway. Still, it’s nice to have them, and we notice when they’re gone, though. After the Sith box in January, it seems that pins and patches will now alternate.

As previously noted, May’s box will be for Solo. Orders are now open.
