Everything we learned about Avengers: Infinity War at C2E2 2018
By Andi Ortiz
The end is coming. Avengers: Infinity War officially releases on April 27, and last weekend at C2E2, we got a few more clues about what to look forward to.
It’s all been leading to this — that’s what Marvel has promised for Avengers: Infinity War. Their question: where will you be when it all ends? So, with just a few weeks to the release of the film, emotions are running high.
As always, Marvel has kept a tight lock on details and spoilers. But there have been some clues. And at C2E2, there were a few more, thanks to a couple of guardians of the galaxy and some toys.
Dave Bautista and Sean Gunn, who play Drax the Destroyer and Kraglin respectively, were on hand to discuss their experiences with the franchise and tell stories from on set. Gunn is also the stand-in for Rocket Racoon’s body during filming.

Of course, they couldn’t say that much about Infinity War. “I don’t want a little poison dart to shoot me in the neck,” Gunn said, laughing. They couldn’t even confirm who the Guardians had scenes with, aside from Thor.
Bautista did note how excited he was to work with Iron Man though. According to Bautista, Robert Downey Jr. went out of his way to say congratulations after the first Guardians film, and tell Bautista how great it was.
Bautista paid the love forward at C2E2, noting how great the Russo brothers were on set of Infinity War. He was especially impressed with their handling — or rather, lack of handling — of the guardians’ personas.
“They wanted the guardians from Guardians of the Galaxy,” Bautista said, praising how the Russos didn’t try to fit them into a different sort of mold. To accomplish that mission, the brothers brought in James Gunn to write some of their dialogue.
Whatever choices the Russo brothers made, they seem to have been the right ones, since Gunn tweeted that the film is “incredible.”
After getting insider thoughts from Bautista and Sean Gunn, fans got an even closer look at the characters of Infinity War at C2E2, courtesy of Diamond Select Toys. The company had their upcoming Infinity War figurines on display, giving an even better glimpse at Spider-Man’s suit in particular. Check it out:
Peter Parker will be fully embracing the Iron Spider suit in Infinity War, and it looks like circumstances will force him to utilize every feature — including the waldoes. They allow Spider-Man to see around corners and handle objects around him; in short, they’re extra arms to make him truly spider-like.
Also included in the new Diamond figurines is Thor, wielding his battle-axe (RIP Mjolnir) and his lightning. Hopefully both will serve him well against Thanos — and his sons.
Yes, Infinity War will likely introduce more of Thanos’s children. C2E2 had Funko! Pop figurines available of Corvus Glaive and Ebony Maw.
It’s not much, but it is more to go on. And luckily, we don’t have to wait much longer for all the answers.
