Avengers: Infinity War’s plot is so secretive that even this expensive hat won’t reveal much
By Mia Johnson
As part of Avengers: Infinity War merchandise, 59Fifty made an expensive fitted hat featuring the Infinity Stones and a reversible side that keeps certain spoilers safe.
Who knew that we’d be looking to fitted caps as a way to get any bit of information about Avengers: Infinity War’s plot? And with this hat, it’s not what’s on the outside that counts, but the inside.
The directors of the movie are already counting on us to keep to keep spoilers at bay, and it looks like the merchandise is working just as hard to avoid letting anything get out.
So let’s take a look at the 59Fifty fitted cap that’ll be available to the public soon. On the outside, it looks unsuspecting. It’s made to look like Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet, fit with a gold finish, Infinity Stones sprinkled on top, and the word “WAR” written across the front (using the Avengers’ A logo). It’s a very tasteful hat.

Never mind that the cap reminds me of 2010, the era of swag and Justin Bieber. If someone wants to wear the golden gauntlet hat to show off their love for the Avengers, I’m all for it.
But what’s really important here is what’s on the flipside of that cap — or actually, what’s not on the flipside.

Did you notice something strange about the underside? Take a look at each section and see what they have in common. One panel is missing something.
The official description of the hat mentions:
"The Interior! The cap’s inner lining features six blinding illustrations of each and every Infinity Stone — they’re paired with the appropriate Marvel hero who had personal dealings with said stones."
That the description is 99.99 percent accurate. Visually, it breaks down like this:
- Red section: The Reality Stone. Its power was manifested in the Aether in Thor: Dark World, so Thor is the Avenger on that part.
- Blue: The Space Stone. Although it first appeared in Thor, they’re giving this one to Captain America, who got a hold of it in the form of the Tesseract.
- Purple: The Power Stone. In Guardians of the Galaxy, this stone was discovered to be in the orb that Star-Lord takes.
- Green: The Time Stone. Doctor Strange inherited the mystical relic that he nows harnesses, The Eye of Agamotto, which encases the Time Stone.
- Yellow: Mind Stone. Though once a part of Loki’s scepter, the yellow stone was extracted from it and used to animate The Vision.
- Orange: The Soul Stone. ???
That’s it! As of now, we know very little about the Soul Stone and its whereabouts. Some have speculated that it’s what’s helped Heimdall have his all-seeing powers. Others think that the stone may be in Wakanda, even giving the heart-shaped herb its extra abilities.
One thing that is for sure, though, is that fitted cap will neither confirm nor deny our speculations.
The option to leave out the last hero seems a bit odd, though. Why not just have all the stones without their Avenger equivalent so there’s not an obvious design that’s missing?
Or, maybe if you hold the hat up to the light, you’ll see the secret Avenger is actually lightly woven into the design (T’Challa??).
