Prue, Piper and Phoebe Halliwell – Charmed

I’ll just admit it right here. The Halliwell sisters are, by far, my favorite TV sisters and not just because they look so cute killing big bad demons. Seriously, the talent it must take to keep their tube tops up is pretty impressive (thanks body tape).

Prue, Piper and Phoebe are the Charmed ones, for sure, but the show mostly hinges on the relationship between the three women. As the oldest and the witch with the strongest powers, Prue is the default leader and authority of the threesome. Piper, like most middle children, serves as the diplomat and peacekeeper and gets to freeze people with her hands. Phoebe is the classic youngest child, impulsive and unreliable and gets visions but at the most inconvenient time.

I don’t even care that Charmed was mostly considered jiggle TV, this was a smartly constructed, female-driven show that always made me feel like I was part of the sisterhood. The entire premise of the show, in fact, is built around the power of women coming together. The sisters were at their most powerful when they were together and weakened when they were apart.

Fights and arguments between the three would cause seismic shifts in the galaxy and cause dimensions to collapse in on themselves. But when they were in harmony, they could take on forces ten times their strength and ultimately change the very fabric of the universe. It was girl power to the ultimate degree.
