The first look at Sabrina’s filming reveals it has some definite Riverdale vibes

Riverdale has a definite aesthetic, and it looks like that’s bleeding over into the upcoming Sabrina adaptation on Netflix.

There’s a certain cuteness to Bughead on Riverdale, probably because the show has taken Betty’s perfect girl-next-door look and dialed it up to ridiculous heights (except when she puts her wig on) and has given Jughead the contrasting boy-from-the-wrong-side-of-the-tracks look, all denim and plaid. However, if you take the names out and replace them with Sabrina-themed ones instead, then you’d have an excellent way of describing the photo posted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa earlier Wednesday.

After all, with Sabrina still set to arrive this year, things have to get moving.

Moving they are, especially with a photo like this:

Granted, Betty probably wouldn’t wear those particular shades of red because Alice wouldn’t let her out of the house if she did. However, Sabrina herself certainly looks like she has some of the retro styles of the ’60s — check out the shape of her collar and even the headband itself.

However, Harvey over there looks like an attempt to have a slightly more clean-cut version of Jughead, with just enough of a bad-boy aura to make him tempting to our witch protagonist. If you’ve read the comics, you know that the bad boy-ness might just need to come into play a bit more later in the first (or second!) season.

To take a closer look at the potential for a new teen drama couple, Bughead has built up a following because of how long it really took. Since Harvey and Sabrina are already an established couple, it might be a bit more difficult for fans to really start shipping them in the same way.

With all these questions, though, there is one thing we know for sure: the costuming is definitely on point so far in this show. Here’s hoping that that trend continues.
