Monster-In-Law: One big happy family (sort of)

Remember when we talked about 13 Going on 30, and how Jennifer Lopez appears on the magazine covers of Poise and Sparkle, and she was dating Ben Affleck, who married Jennifer Garner? Well, we have another little fact  about that group of Hollywood stars.

Monster-In-Law stars J.Lo and Michael Vartan as a couple who fall in love, and then have to deal with his overbearing mother, played by Jane Fonda. J.Lo plays Charlie, a lovable bohemian dog walker and office temp, and Vartan is Kevin, a doctor and son of the famous TV personality Viola Fields (Fonda)

Meanwhile, in real life, J. Lo and Vartan were in their own little love square. They never dated, but when Lopez split from Ben Affleck, he started dating and eventually married Jennifer Garner. Coincidentally, Vartan was dating Jennifer Garner at the time, and when they broke up, she started dating Ben Affleck!

As we already mentioned Affleck and Garner ended up marrying and having three children, though they have since split. It’s a shame J.Lo and Vartan didn’t end up getting married, because that would’ve been a twist!

Speaking of Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda only signed onto this movie because of the singer/actress! She didn’t feel like the screenplay was that good, but wanted to use it as her comeback project. She had not appeared in a film in 15 years, and she knew Jennifer Lopez would draw big audiences.

Sure enough, Jane Fonda has been pretty busy ever since. Most recently, she’s been starring in Grace and Frankie on Netflix.
