The Wedding Singer: Friends will be there for you

Speaking of Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, The Wedding Singer is another one of their collaborative efforts.

Let’s get straight to the point: this movie has a lot of connections to the show we all love, Friends. There are seriously a bunch of cast members who have appeared on the hit sitcom, ranging from series regulars to guest stars. First, Julia’s (Barrymore) mom is played by Christina Pickles, who plays Judy, Ross and Monica’s mother.

At one point in the movie, Julia’s mom likens her mother-in-law to Magnum P.I. And who played Magnum P.I.? Tom Selleck, who guest starred on Friends as Richard, Monica’s longtime boyfriend.

Comedian Jon Lovitz also appears in The Wedding Singer as Jimmy Moore, the other wedding singer. He appeared twice on Friends as the pot-smoking restaurant owner who wants to hire Monica, but his munchies ruin that job opportunity. He reappears later in the series when Phoebe sets him up on a date with Rachel (which obviously doesn’t end well).

Christine Taylor, who plays Julia’s sister, also showed up on Friends as Phoebe’s friend Bonnie. You remember Bonnie, the one who Ross dates, and then breaks up with when she shaves her head in order to get back with Rachel?

And last but not least, Angela Featherstone, who plays Robbie’s fiancée, also plays the hot copy shop girl who Ross “cheats” on Rachel with when they were “on a break.” So if it wasn’t for her, we wouldn’t have had to hear Ross scream “WE WERE ON A BREAK!” a million times.
