Never Been Kissed: Horror movies and age gaps
It’s always funny how Hollywood plays around with the idea of age. In some teen movies, the stars are well into their twenties. In other movies, one actress may be playing the mother of another, even though they’re only a few years apart in real life.
Sometimes you can hardly tell how old a star really is, and they perfectly portray a much younger character. Most of the time, however, that’s not the case for most teen movies and TV shows.
In Never Been Kissed, Drew Barrymore’s Josie is definitely does not look like just another teenager. However, this time, she’s supposed to be older, because she’s a writer pretending to be a student for a story. But that doesn’t make the age gaps any less obvious!
Some people over the years have taken an issue with the fact that Josie is much older than her high school crush, Guy. Josie is 25, and Guy is around 17. But in real life, Drew Barrymore was actually two years younger than Jeremy Jordan, the actor playing Guy.
Also, Josie’s brother Rob (David Arquette) is two years younger than her in the film. However, Arquette is actually four years older than Barrymore!
Another little fun fact about Never Been Kissed is its connection to the famed horror series Scream. Arquette starred in all four Scream films. Barrymore appeared in the first Scream movie in 1996, and co-star Marley Shelton reunited with Arquette in the most recent Scream 4.
See? Everyone in Hollywood is connected in some way!
