Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them named Film of the Day by On the Box

Every day, On the Box names a Film of the Day for people to watch and the first Fantastic Beasts movie is considered the one to watch tonight.

It’s the Saturday before Easter and that means a lot of people are getting ready for laying out the Easter Egg hunts and encouraging the kids to get an early night. One of the perfect ways to spend the evening is with a family movie before bed. On the Box names Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them as the Film of the Day.

We have to agree! It is, by far, one of the more entertaining movies from 2017. Whether you love the niffler, Jacob Kowalski’s introduction to magic, or even the development of the American world of wizardry, this is going to be a movie that you want to watch with your kids. There is something for all.

More from Harry Potter

The best thing is you don’t need to know everything about the Harry Potter world. If you’ve not caught all the movies about the Boy Wizard (we’re not judging, honest!) you can still sit back and enjoy Newt Scamander’s journey through America, learning all about the magical and mystical creatures. He also has to deal with magical creatures being let out into the normal world, thanks to No-Maj Jacob, played by Dan Folger.

This is a movie that certainly would have worked as a standalone. However, it is getting a sequel (and then three more movies after that) coming very soon that will tell the story of Newt’s friendship with Albus Dumbledore and the steps to take down Grindelwald as he rises in power.

It should be a Film of the Day every day, really. This is one of those movies that makes the kids howl with laughter, including the big kids. One of the best parts is all the things the niffler gets up to throughout the movie. Think of him as the squirrel in Ice Age or the minions in Despicable Me or even the penguins from Madagascar. This little guy should get a movie of his own or just a mini-series for the kids!
