Women to Admire: Shuri

For our Women to Admire series, we’d be remiss to not talk about Shuri, the shining star of Black Panther. She is the smartest person in the MCU after all.

Shuri, T’Challa’s sister, is a wonderful addition to our Women to Admire list. Not only is she extremely funny and charming, but she is also the smartest person in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While that doesn’t seem like a big deal, when you breakdown who she’s up against, it is truly awe-inspiring. This young teenager beats out the likes of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Peter Parker. Shuri spends her time making tech in Wakanda, and it is clear that she is going to continue having a big impact on the MCU.

Aside from fixing Bucky Barnes, Shuri also clearly creates Captain America’s Avengers: Infinity War shield and more of the technology that we’ve seen in both that film and Black Panther. Not only is this cool for Shuri, it is inspiring for a young female heroine in the MCU.

Shuri is a young, black girl who is the smartest person around and creates suits and weapons for superheroes. That’s awesome! Plus her character is completely approachable, and honestly one of the funniest in the Marvel group. In fact, Shuri throws around internet memes to make fun of her brother throughout the movie and wears her hair like Princess Leia in Black Panther. Yes to all of this.

If anything, she’s a bit of a nerd. Perhaps she’s even a Culturess?

Shuri represents so many young girls out there and shows the younger generation that they too can be the smartest kid in the lab.
