Betty Cooper
Betty Cooper on Riverdale is pretty wild. But she is a really cool character. Part of the Archie comics, Betty is basically a kid reporter who uses her school newspaper to help solve crimes throughout Riverdale that she definitely shouldn’t be a part of.
Look at the Black Hood storyline for instance. Betty became a focal point because she was so vocal about Riverdale and the happenings in town. She doesn’t let anyone stop her from trying to figure out what’s going on and how to save her town.
Even when she’s at the mercy of a murderer, Betty takes it upon herself so that she doesn’t have to hurt those around her. It isn’t exactly healthy, but it is a fun thing to see. So often young girls are portrayed as “stupid” or boy crazy, but Betty, even with her relationship with Jughead, tends to focus on bigger issues that are happening around her.
It shows girls that they can be whatever they want and still be normal teenagers. That’s normal if you live in a town with murder and a crazy man in a mask, but still, Betty makes time for her friends and runs a successful paper at school. She really can have it all, and it is great to watch.
