GLOW (Costume designer: Beth Morgan)

The ’90s are back. We hear it all the time. But GLOW has us wondering, well, what about the ’80s?  Can we all start wearing the ugly faded greens and pinks that are so synonymous with 1986? Let’s hope so!

Fun and fabulous clothing is everywhere in this show. GLOW opens on the main character, Ruth, wearing a full pastel green power suit with gold buttons, a look we can all immediately add to our style inspiration list.

The lovely part about using TV as a medium to influence your style is that there will inevitably  be a shot of a bathroom stall where all you see are the feet of the character. The director’s clearly trying to say something but all we see is a close up on the cutest must-have flats. Are we even sure that’s not the director’s point in picking this shot?

GLOW is a clothing treasure trove! The show features clothing items we’d scour hours for in a used clothing store. Love pairing white and rainbow woven wicker flats with chunky layered necklaces? GLOW also reminds us that we really don’t have to wear pants. Crew necks and bikini bottoms are enough for most occasions.
