5. Iron Man

This was the movie that started it all. Its success has spawned 17 more films and counting and launched the cinematic universe we all know and love.

That’s why it ranks so high for us. We didn’t know what to expect from this relatively indie comic book movie. Or how Robert Downey Jr. would portray billionaire Tony Stark.

This movie felt like everything we wanted. Downey Jr. plays Tony with such lovable arrogance. I mean, the film starts with “Back in Black” by AC/DC blasting in the FunVee and Tony telling the soldiers that it’s “very cool” for them to take a picture with him.

When he comes back to civilization and immediately tells Pepper he wants an American cheeseburger, he is all of us. Or how about this fantastic off-the-cuff interview:

"“Mr. Stark, you’ve been called the Da Vinci of our time. What do you say to that?” “Absolutely ridiculous. I don’t paint.” “What do you say to your other nickname, the “Merchant of Death”?” “That’s not bad.”"

This movie was so much of what we always wanted that every line that’s supposed to be funny is funny. Everything comes off as honest and hilarious. Although, I may have to rescind my comment about Spider-Man: Homecoming having the best MCU ending, because “I am Iron Man” is still pretty darn awesome.
