7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

The second Guardians of the Galaxy is nowhere near as fantastic as the first, but it still has the same sense of humor. From the opening baby Groot montage of him dancing to “Mr. Blue Sky” by ELO, you just know you’re in for a treat.

Baby Groot once again tends to steal the show whenever he’s onscreen, especially when Rocket translates for him. Like the whole scene in the Ravagers jail cell where he says why he doesn’t like hats on people (“One minute you think someone has a weird-shaped head, the next minute it’s just because you realize part of that head is the hat.”). And that whole scene about which button to push is just adorably hilarious.

The introduction of Mantis, a character so incredibly nice yet so naïve, also ups the amount of jokes. Like when she’s talking about Rocket and exclaims, “The crabby puppy is so cute, he makes me wanna die!” Likewise, a lot of the interactions between her and Drax are funny, too, in a bit of a mean way. Calling her ugly, pretty on the inside, telling her to watch out after she gets hit by a giant rock.

We also get another funny out-of-context pop culture reference with Yondu’s utterance of, “I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!”
