The Marvel Cinematic Universe movies ranked by hilarity
8. Black Panther
Marvel’s latest outing is a heck of a lot of fun, especially when you realize that the super cool, calm and confident character that showed up in Civil War and gained the respect of Steve Rogers returns home to be constantly roasted by his family and friends.
Ulysses Klaue is the over-the-top comedic relief for the 20 minutes we deal with him, offering to send a link to his posse’s mixtape on SoundCloud. It’s a bummer to see him killed by Erik, but not all that surprising.
It also gives us a few funny moments, like T’Challa immediately freezing up when he sees Nakia for the first time. Or when Okoye stops a charging rhino by standing between it and its target and it stops in its tracks just to get pet by her.
Shuri, though, is the highlight of the whole movie, full of sarcasm and sass. She creates a set of shoes not unlike the Nikes from Back to the Future Part II and plans to call them “sneakers” because they’re for sneaking. “Great! Another broken white boy for me to fix!” “Don’t scare me like that, colonizer!” And one of the best, her response to T’Challa’s sandals: “What are thooooose?!”
I need to go watch this movie several more times.
