Elizabeth Olsen isn’t impressed with Empire magazine’s photoshopped Scarlet Witch

To promote Avengers: Infinity War, Empire photoshopped Scarlet Witch on the cover, making Elizabeth Olsen the latest celebrity to call out how silly it is.

While photoshopping isn’t new to Hollywood and certainly promotes unrealistic beauty standards, a lot of celebrities have called out the very magazines that put them on the cover. Although nothing will ever be as egregious as Vanity Fair’s massive flubcelebrities from Jennifer Lawrence to Lupita Nyong’o have all dealt with it.

Unfortunately, The Avengers‘ Elizabeth Olsen became the latest celebrity to call out what is often an unnecessary distortion of their appearance.

Check it out below:

The actress, who’s the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, is mostly known for her role as Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. First teased at the end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Scarlet Witch debuted as part of the early expansion of the Avengers team. More importantly, she happens to be one of the most powerful people on the team.

So, it seems silly that Empire would do such a disservice to both her and the character to make her look weird on the above cover. Nobody else standing beside her appears to look drastically altered. Yet, Olsen’s face looks visibly pinched and narrowed for some reason. (And that’s in addition to how “meh” her hair looks.)

It’s not like Olsen needs any sort of help in the beauty department. No matter what she’s doing, she pulls focus whenever she’s in the frame. For example, take a look at H&M’s new ad campaign.

Even with Winona Ryder and a bunch of extras around her, one can’t help but notice Elizabeth Olsen:

It’s unfortunate that Empire felt the need to photoshop Olsen. As far as the larger picture is concerned, it sets incredibly unrealistic standards for people, especially when a magazine does a bad job of it.

If you look closely at the cover, it kind of looks like Elizabeth’s Olsen eye on the left sags like a cartoon character. And yet, Drax, who is in full-body makeup looks perfectly fine. Do better, Empire.
