15 shows to watch if you like Game of Thrones

Black Mirror — Netflix
What it is: Black Mirror is a British-American series featuring hour-long, stand alone dramas for every episode. Thematically, the show explores paranoia about technology and its effects on the human condition. In practice, it offers some of the most disturbing, unsettling moments of TV out there right now, and only a few episodes will make you want to throw all your screens in the river and never log on again.
Every single episode taps into our collective unease about our modern world’s relationship with our digital endeavors, and the tone ranges from completely terrifying to sort of sweet and weird. The show runs the gamut of our connection to technology, exploring how well it can go, but also how terribly, terribly wrong it can go.
Why you’ll like it: It captures the what ifs of a (slightly) alternte universe. Although the show imagines some pretty unsettling futures, none of it is so far from what could really happen. Just like Game of Thrones, it’s an exercise in what could happen. Most of the fun is watching the scenarios play out in the most outlandish way possible.
Fans of Game of Thrones know that while the show is rooted mostly in medieval realism, there are some real moments of ridiculousness. Black Mirror exploits our fascination with the alarming, the macabre and the downright shocking.
Where to find it: All four seasons are on Netflix now.
