Shadowhunters season 3 premiere preview
By Andi Ortiz
Shadowhunters is returning for its third season, and it’s bringing the mother of all demons. Here’s what to expect in the season premiere.
Freeform’s hit series Shadowhunters is back for its third season, and it’s set to be the biggest one yet. The premiere promises more drama, more demons and now that Valentine’s gone, a new big bad.
With all the action set to go down, and months of intense trailers and hints, the official episode synopsis is still just one sentence.
Via Freeform, here it is:
"Secrets abound as the Shadowhunters and Downworlders try to get back to normal after Valentine’s death."
It’s succinct, but not untrue. Obviously, the biggest secret looming over this season will likely be that of Jace’s survival. In the season 2 finale, Valentine killed Jace before meeting his own end by Clary’s hand.
As a result, when the angel Raziel was raised, it was Clary who got a single wish. Led by her heart, she wished for Jace’s revival. But they aren’t the only ones who know about it. With Jace’s death, Alec’s parabatai rune disappeared — Alec may not know exactly what happened, but he intends to find out.
Jace isn’t the only one who had someone to bring him back though.
Jonathan Morgenstern, aka Sebastian Verlac, met a similar fate and his savior is much scarier; her name is Lilith. She’s not just any demon, she’s the mother of all demons — including Jonathan. And she’s on the warpath.
Played by Anna Hopkins, Lilith seems to have big plans this season.
