Who knew that Tina Fey, who played the lovably disastrous Liz Lemon, is actually a Liz herself?

The character Liz Lemon was actually named Liz as a nod to the fact that Tina’s given name is Elizabeth. She gets “Tina” from her middle name, Stamatina. Funny enough, though, her bestie Amy Poehler calls her “Betty,” a nickname for Elizabeth.

“My first name is really Elizabeth — Elizabeth Tina — so she’s one of the few people that knows that, so she calls me Betty,” she once told TODAY. Do you think she would mind if we all started calling her Betty, or is that more of a best friend thing?

(It’s probably a best friend thing. We all don’t want to end up inspiring a new comedy from her, right? Not only does she have enough work on her hands as it is, it would be kind of embarrassing for anyone to be immortalized that way.)
