More porgs and Star Wars: Forces of Destiny episodes coming March 19

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny will air new episodes of the animated series starting on March 19, and you can expect to see all your favorites in it.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny started as a way to put female characters at the forefront, which seemed like an excellent idea when it first premiered last year. However, now that the Star Wars climate has taken a turn for the worse, it feels like Forces of Destiny is an admirable (albeit welcome) attempt to get everyone’s mind off The Last Jedi.

If The Last Jedi overstayed its welcome, Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t exactly getting a warm greeting either. With the film set to release on May 25, the hype train isn’t even boarding. It’s not even listed on the arrivals board.

But in the meantime, we look to the animated series. Star Wars: Rebels just aired a wonderful season finale, and Forces of Destiny, although short, also delivers a lot of fun.

Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we know that Rose Tico, Luke Skywalker, Rey, Padmé and some porgs will appear in the eight new episodes.

Forces of Destiny released several new photos as well. One of them (above) makes it seems like Rey will either play with the porgs on Ahch-To or teach them “YMCA.” Based on how she reacted to Luke’s scavenging skills, she probably won’t try to eat them. The more likely scenario would be that she accidentally upsets them, as she did with the caretakers. It would be nice to see a softer side of Rey, though. Maybe one porg hurts its wing and Rey takes care of it. That would be unexpected and more compelling to watch.

Other photos show Luke Skywalker on Dagobah. And yes, Mark Hamill will lend his voice. Jyn Erso will do something with another animal again. Plus, we’ll see Padmé, Anakin and Ahsoka spend time together again.
