Luke Cage season 2 will be out on Netflix soon, and now we know actress Anabella Sciorra will play villain Rosalie Carbone in the show.
Things just got a little more evil for season 2 of Luke Cage. An exclusive from Entertainment Weekly revealed that the new villain for Marvel’s Luke Cage will be Rosalie Carbone — played by Anabella Sciorra.
Rosalie, according to the Marvel Database Wiki, is an Italian-American mob leader of the Carbone family. She mostly appeared in the Punisher comic book series where she fought to take the title vigilante down.
The Punisher has appeared in the Daredevil Netflix show and had his own series drop late last year. But it’s unknown if he’ll play a part in this season of Luke Cage to connect the Carbones with Cage. It’s entirely possible that this season will deviate from the comics to make Cage the Carbone’s number one enemy instead of The Punisher.
In this series, the EW story says she will be “a dangerous downtown criminal underworld power player with an eye, and an agenda, toward Harlem.”
This role might be perfect for Sciorra, who starred in one of the biggest Italian mob shows on TV, The Sopranos. For her short run, she played the secret love interest of mob boss Tony Soprano. The stunt led her to receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
“You haven’t seen her this gangster since her thrilling turn as Tony’s formidable flame Gloria Trillo on season 3 of The Sopranos,” Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker said, per the EW story.
“I’m thrilled her introduction to the Marvel Universe will be on Marvel’s Luke Cage.”
