Why Amy Schumer won’t change her last name after marriage

Amy Schumer isn’t changing her last name after marrying chef Chris Fischer last month. Honestly, we can see why.

The 36-year-old comedian explained why in an Instagram story, while talking to her father, Gordon.

Her asks if his daughter is “still Amy Schumer or are you Amy Fischer now?”

The Trainwreck star replies, “I’m not Amy Fischer! Do you remember who Amy Fisher is? The Long Island Lolita. No, I’m keeping my last name. I’m keeping your last name.”

A fun ’90s crime refresher: Amy Fisher was a 17-year-old from Long Island who had an affair with  a married man, 35-year-old Joey Buttafuoco. The two planned to kill his wife, Mary Jo, but Fisher ended up carrying out the act by shooting Mary Jo in the face.

The wife survived and the teen mistress, nicknamed “Long Island Lolita” by the press, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In 1999, Fisher was granted parole.

Schumer laughed off the idea of the name change, tagging the story with “longislandlolita.” We’re feeling her keeping her name as is, and avoiding any mixups with Google Search in the future.

Schumer married Fischer in a surprise wedding in Malibu just a day before Valentine’s Day.

She shared photos of the big day on Instagram, from a wide shot of the beachside ceremony to the after party where her and BFF Jennifer Lawrence danced the night away.

Other celebs who attended the nuptials were Jennifer Aniston, James Corden, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.
