Taylor Swift has an incredible discography and it’s hard to choose our Song of the Week every time, but we’ve finally chosen and it’s Swift’s emotionally charged “Cold As You” from her self-titled debut album.

“Cold As You” is a song about Swift’s experience with an emotionally unavailable guy. In the track, the songstress compares her lover to a cold and rainy day, The song was written with her longtime friend and collaborator, Liz Rose.

“Cold As You” was the first song to begin Swift’s track record for the fifth song from each of her album being emotionally vulnerable ballads, and it’s been the same ever since. What better song to start the record and we know we don’t ever want it to be broken.

"“I wrote this song with Liz, and I think the lyrics to this song are some of the best we’ve ever written. It’s about that moment where you realize someone isn’t at all who you thought they were, and that you’ve been trying to make excuses for someone who doesn’t deserve them. And that some people are just never going to love you. We were halfway through writing this when I started singing ‘And now that I’m sitting here thinking it through, I’ve never been anywhere cold as you’.” – Taylor Swift"

Even at a young age, Swift showcases her ability to write a beautiful masterpiece and her songwriting chops continue to grow with each new album. We love “Cold As You” and we know you do too. Raw, vulnerability and emotional tonality in her vocals are what made us fall in love with Swift in the first place, and “Cold As You” has always been one of the tracks that stand out to us the most.
